Live Adult Butterfly Shipping

All Live Butterflies must be shipped Next Day Air in order to guarantee they Arrive Alive!

We ship all live butterfly orders via Fedex Next Day Air. Your butterflies will be safely packed inside a styrofoam insulated box with a freezer pack inside. This keeps the butterflies cool and imitates their natural sleep state. Keeping the butterflies in a cool, dark environment mimics a cool Spring or Fall night and will allow the butterflies to sleep, stress free on their journey to you. Instructions on how to care for your butterflies once they arrive we be inside the shipping box. The instructions also appear on our website in the What to do when your butterflies arrive section, where they can be printed for your convenience.

You should designate someone to be responsible for the butterflies if you are not available. We understand that for many of you, there are a number of duties to be performed before a big event. You may not be available to receive the shipment. This is why you should designate a responsible person to be present and sign for the shipment if you cannot be there. The package needs to be opened and inspected upon arrival to determine if there is a problem with your order. If you have a problem with your order, you must contact us immediately!

We do not require a signature on our butterfly shipments. If you feel that this is necessary, we can request the shipping company to obtain a signature upon delivery. Caution : There is a reason why we don't require a signature. If you are not present at the time of delivery to sign for the package, it will not be delivered that day! In this case, Clark Butterfly Farms LLC cannot be held responsible and therefore will not issue you a refund. Once a package has been delivered without a signature, we are no longer responsible for the package. No refund will be issued for any package that was delivered without a signature. 

If you do not receive your package by the Fedex committed "delivered by" time or if you discover a problem with your order, you must contact us immediately! If you contact us within 90 minutes of the carrier's commitment time, we can contact the carrier and attempt to have it routed to your loacation. If it cannot be rerouted, it can usually be picked up at the carrier's shipping office the next morning. If contacted early enough, the shipper can correct their mistake and reroute your package for delivery. If you make no attempt to contact us within the 90 minute window, no refund will be issued.

Be aware that the shipping company emails us the delivery confirmation information for all shipments. The date and time delivered and if someone was present to sign for the package, are included in the emailed delivery confirmation.

If you provide us with an incorrect or incomplete address, or no one is present at the address to receive the package, we will accept no responsibility for your order. Additionally, no refund will be issued for your order. 

Due to Fedex shipping restrictions, Next Day Air is not available for Sunday or Monday deliveries. If your butterfly release is scheduled for one of those days we can provide you with instruction on how you can keep your butterflies healthy and alive until your release. In fact, we highly recommend that you have your butterflies delivered the day before your event. In the unlikely event a problem occurs with your shipment and the package does not arrive on time, we can attempt to correct this with the shipping company. Given enough time, we can reroute or reship for early morning delivery the next day.

 If your package is delayed after it leaves Clark Butterfly Farms LLC and that delay causes the Butterflies to miss your event; We will give a  50% refund on the Butterflies (shipping charge excluded), provided the shipping agency acknowledges their failure to deliver on time. If the failure is proven to be the fault of Clark Butterfly Farms LLC, we will offer a complete refund. If you determine a problem with your shipment, you must notify us immediately by phoning 386-740-1100.  If no one answers your call, leave a message with your order information and send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. If the contents are damaged, Do Not destroy any possible damaged contents, as we may require photos or return of any damaged product in order to receive reimbursement.

Our Arrive Alive guarantee applies to Next Day Air shipments Only. If the package is delayed due to weather related conditions, Clark Butterfly Farms LLC cannot be held responsible and therefore no refund will be issued. Once the package leaves our facility, it is the shipping companies' responsibility to deliver on time. If your package is delayed due to a State of Emergency anywhere from the point of origin, in route or at the orders destination you (the customer) agree not to hold Clark Butterfly Farms LLC responsible for the delayed arrival of your package and you understand that no refund will be issued in such an event. This applies to any event where a State of Emergency exists and requires the closure of highways, airports, etc. that prevent the shipping company from safely transporting your package. Unfortunately, shipping insurance cannot be purchased to guard against such an event because the shipping companies will not insure the transit of live animals or perishable goods. This is the policy of the shipping company.
